Games this week: Tuesday—Kansas State vs. Kansas; Friday—Iowa State vs. Oklahoma. Jayhawkers Survive I-State Squeeze Play The Kansas Jayhawkers skidded ahead of the Iowa State Cyclones by the slim margin of 50-47 at Ames Friday night in an overtime game that nearly clipped the old bird's taill feathers. It looked like Iowa State would walk off with the game in the last quarter. The score stood at 46-44 in the Cyclones' favor and there were only thirty seconds left to play, when "Jumping Georgie" Gear dropped in a beautiful field goal from half court to tie up the game at 46-all. Kansas led the Iowa team in a merry chase during the early part of the game, and the score at the half was 22-17 in favor of Kansas. The last half was a different story, however, as the Cyclones put on a burst of speed that nearly ruined the Kansas team. In the overtime period the Jayhawks began to roll and in a flurry of action, Otto Schnellbacher and Gib Stramel poured in the four winning points that gave Kansas the victory. Jim Stark, Iowa State forward, was high-point man of the game with a tally of 17 points. Gear was high scorer for the Jayhawkers with 12 points. The Little Phogs, undefeated team in Division I of basketball intramurals, are planning to withdraw from the intramural brackets. Little Phogs May Withdraw From I-M This withdrawal, according to Dick Carson, Little Phog manager, is due to the fact that five of the eight members are shipping out to sea at the end of the present term. If the team can find enough players to remain in competition, they may do so The team has won five straight games and has racked up 277 points to its opponents 123. This gives the Little Phogs an average per game of 55 points to an average of 24 points for the opponents. cola, Fla; one and one-half years aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S.
