PAGE FOUR UNIVERSITY DAILY KANSAN, LAWRENCE, KANSAS FRIDAY, MAY 12, 1944 KU, Iowa State Meet Important The University of Kansas track team will leave at 6:50 tonight for Ames, Iowa, for their dual meet with the Iowa State Cyclones tomorrow. Coach Ray Kanehl will take 15 men to the "tall corn state" in hope of giving the powerful Cyclones a close battle. The Iowa school won the Big Six conference indoor meet and received additional help when the basketball season ended as several members of the cage squad are doing equally as well in the spring sport. The Jayhawkers will be without the services of Tom Scofield, ace high jumper, who will be unable to make the trip, but Coach Kanehl said this morning that the team was going to Ames with the idea of "giving their all." The way the men from Mt. Oread perform tomorrow will furnish good food for thought as to how their chances are in the Big Six meet next Saturday at Lincoln, as the Cyclones are rated as the best team in the conference at the present time. NOBLE CAIN--in "SPITFIRE" (continued from page one) as considered by Mr. Cain are tone, technique, text, test, teaching, and truth. He especially emphasized the importance of the words of a song, because it is necessary in war time more than ever to convey the thought or message. Related to the text of the song was the sincerity of the singer, for it is in singing with sincerity that songs become a part of one.
