Magic Finances Education Buescher Regarded Highly by Sooners One hundred eight recent petroleum engineering graduates at the University of Texas are now in the armed services. - Not competing for points. John Buescher, Kansas basketball star, has been named as a forward on the all-opponent team of the Oklahoma Sooners. Other members of the team are Johnny Kotz, forward, Wisconsin; Larry Boykoff, center, St. John's; Grady Lewis, guard, Olathe Clippers; and Milo Komenich, guard, Wyoming. Two University of Kentucky sophomores, Billy Hockaday and James Snyder, are financing their education as professional magicians. Texas Graduates Engineers Jayhawk abberwock By Matt Heuertz THE NCAA PLAYOFFS Tucker had plenty to do with keeping Oklahoma ahead throughout the first half. Besides making eleven points he did some excellent rebound and guard work. He was the only Sooner player who could keep up with Wyoming's two giants, Weir and Komenich. Now that the Kansas City Western NCAA playoffs are over, many persons are wondering whether the tournament was conducted on a fair and square basis. We have in mind particularly the fouling out of Gerald Tucker before the first half was over in the Oklahoma-Wyoming game Friday night. Oklahoma had a 19 to 11 lead when Titanic Tuck received his third foul. In danger of fouling out he couldn't keep up his close guarding and as a result the Cowboys began whittling down the Sooner's eight point lead. Wyoming had reduced the Sooner lead to two points when Tucker was sent to the showers with his fourth foul with three minutes to go in the first half. We wonder if those in charge of the game were afraid that Oklahoma would come out of the playoffs as the Western representative. We wonder if the officials had received previous orders to give Wyoming the nod everytime there was a chance to do so. It certainly wouldn't look right for Oklahoma, third choice representative for the Fifth District, to whip Wyoming, first choice in their own district. Wyoming was considered by many as the leading team in the nation its only loss to a college five was to Duquesne early in the season. Oklahoma had lost eight games and had ended up in second place in the Big Six Conference standings. A great majority of the spectators were disgusted with the officiating of all the Western playoff games. At least the many fouls that were called had a lot to do with the outcome of all the games which were not decided until the final minute.
