THURSDAY, MARCH 18, 1943 UNIVERSITY DAILY KANSAN, LAWRENCE, KANSAS PAGE THREE Swimming Meet Precedes Many Weekend Events The Mid-week was not the only attraction last night. The women's intramural swimming meet drew crowds into the turkish bath atmosphere of the pool room to watch bathing beauties dive and race. After the meet spectators and swimmers alike poured into fountains for cokes and food. After a hot atmosphere the weather on the outside seemed After a hot atmosphere the doubly cold last night, but when students woke up this morning in a freezing room with snow flakes spattering the windows, they realized that Spring is not yet here to stay. The weather will not affect the Engineers annual banquet tonight, but may put a damper on the Phi Gam steak fry planned for tomorrow night. With food rationing growing worse and men trickling out of the University one by one or in bunches, parties and banquets will necessarily become limited. But this weekend looks promising. Over 200 tickets were sold for the Engineers banquet tonight in the Kansas Room of the Union. Friday and Saturday nights several dances and picnics are planned. Tomorrow night the Cooperative houses will dance in the Kansas room. Saturday night the Phi Chi informal dance at their house and the Hobnail Hop will provide entertainment. The Westminster Forum Picnic is planned for Saturday. Those students planning to attend ought to get in good with the weather man. PHI DELTA THETA . . . . . Lt.
