Letters to 24 Football Men A similar unit is being organized in Kansas City and both units will function under the direction of a medical member of the local civilian defense unit. Watkins Organizes Emergency Field Unit One of the ways in which the University is helping to meet the present emergency is by the organization of an emergency field medical unit by the Student Health Service. This unit consists of four physicians, four nurses and four orderlies. In order to operate both the Health Service and the field medical unit at full efficiency during emergencies, alternate groups of physicians, nurses, and orderlies will be on hand to substitute in either group. Immediately after the Christmas vacation classes in first aid will be started to qualify a larger group of instructors who in turn will give the First Aid courses for members of the emergency units and for other volunteers. To meet the increased demand for nursing help during the emergencies, a Red Cross course for graduate nurses will be started to qualify teachers to instruct volunteers in the Red Cross program for nurse's aids. The entire personnel of these courses is volunteer.
