WAA Awards Made At Banquet Awards were given at the Women's Athletic Association banquet in the Memorial Union building last night Those receiving blazers, requiring 1,350 points were Betty Allen, Irene McAdoo, and Margaret Whitehead. Those receiving letters, requiring 600 points were Lo Smith, Peggy Davis, Anna Jane Hoffman, Betsy Lawrence, Dorothy Satwint and Betty Watson. Members of the varsity volleyball team were announced. They are Alta Bingham, Peggy Davis, Frances Davison, Mary Beth Dodge, Marguerite Demint, Lavone Jaeobson, Evelyn Herriman, Kathryn Schaake, Mildred Wells, Marjorie Rader, and Irene McAdoo. Taxes Stump Kansas Lawyers Lawyers throughout the state will meet tomorrow in Green hall for the final day of legal institute conducted under the auspices of the Kansas Bar Association and sponsored by the School of Law. Henry H. Asher, tax expert of the Lawrence bar, will lead a discussion on "Income Tax Problems of Decedent Estates" at the morning session. In the afternoon Ellis D. Bever, tax expert of the Wichita bar, will talk on "Taxpayer vs. Commissioner—Procedure of an Income Tax Matter through the Administrative Departments, Bureau of Tax Appeals, and Courts." A banquet will be held tomorrow evening in the Memorial Union building. Union Directors To Discuss Plans The board of directors of the Memorial Union corporation will hold its annual meeting Saturday, Dec. 20. in the Pine room of the Memorial Union building. The board is composed of 21 students, faculty members, and alumni. Officers of the Union corporation are Irving Hill, president; Henry Werner, vice president and chairman of the operating committee; Karl Klooz, treasurer, Fred Ellsworth, secretary; M. L. Breidenthal, vice president; Balfour S. Jeffrey, vice president; and J. W. Hosford, auditor. Wesleyan Student Choir Presents 'Messiah' Sunday Evening services will not be held because of the Christmas Vespers. The vested Wesleyan choir of the First Methodist church, composed of 80 University students, will present "The Messiah" by Handel at the regular morning worship service on 10:45 Sunday. Soloists will be Wilma Medlin fine arts senior; Clarnell Wehrli college senior; Melva Good, college senior; and Virginia Gsell, fine arts junior; Deane Tack, college junior; and Betty Lou Mecham Crabb, 1939 graduate of the School of Fine Arts. D. Schick, campus policeman. Because of a University ruling regarding commercial advertising, such matter cannot be allowed on the campus, it was pointed out by Raymond Nichols, executive secretary to the Chancellor. "Our bulletin space is limited," said Nichols. "It must be conserved. Also, hand bills are just glanced at, then thrown down to litter the grounds. This causes added expense of maintenance." Library Books Are Due Friday "Get your present books in by Dec. 19," says C. M. Baker, director of libraries, said today, "so that others can be checked out Friday evening for the duration of Christmas vacation." Library hours between now and Dec. 19 will be as usual.
