THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 29, 1940. UNIVERSITY DAILY KANSAN, LAWRENCE, KANSAS PAGE FIVB "SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON" Featuring Thomas Mitchell, Edna Best, Freddie Bartholomew, Terry Kilburn, Tim Holt, Baby Bobby Quillan . . . Produced by Gene Towne and Graham Baker; Distributed by RKO Radio. 6 5 When the storm on the island has subsided the castaway family, taking account of themselves, are awed to discover that the tamarind bearing their tree-top house has fallen across the half finished boat wrecking it completely. "God's lightning has destroyed it!" cries William exultantly, and Elizabeth, staring in wonder, sees in this adventure a symbol of their destiny. Reconciled now to their fate, the family take up their task of living with renewed determination and courage. One day an English ship, blown off her course, by a storm, makes her appearance off shore. The ship's arrival creates a furore. The family's joy finally convinces William that they should return to England. But he decides to remain alone. Yet, when leave-taking time comes, Elizabeth suddenly realizes that she loves her husband too much to leave him. While it is right that their growing sons should return, her place is by William's side, and as the boys sail away, vowing to return soon, William, Elizabeth, Ernest, and the baby, Francis, from the shore, happily wave them Godspeed.
