山 WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 1940 UNIVERSITY DAILY KANSAN; LAWRENCE, KANSAS PAGE FIVE "SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON" Featuring Thomas Mitchell, Edna Best, Freddie Bartholomew, Terry Kilburn, Tim Holt, Baby Bobby Ouillan . . . Produced by Gene Towne and Graham Baker; Distributed by RKO Radio. Capitulating to Elizabeth's wishes, even though his heart isn't in it, William gathers timers from the wrecked brig and proceeds to build a boat which is to take them away from the island. Day by day the boat begins to take shape, and day by day Elizabeth's spirits improve as hope of rescue springs in her heart. . . . Meanwhile, the boys, who have not been called upon to work upon the boat, decide to build a tree-top house in one of the giant tamarins. Adventure and enthusiasm grip them, and all on their own, with some of the timbers from the wreck which their father cannot use, they go to work. When the tree-top house is completed it is a sight to behold. One side of it consists of the stern of "The Flying Swan." A winding stairway gives easy access to it, and the delighted boys, proud of their handiwork, put up a sign reading: "Falcon's Nest." Sadly, William notes that Elizabeth is still determined to return with her family to civilization. That night a terrific thunderstorm sweeps over the island. Gathering intensity, the storm reaches its climax with a barrage of deafening thunder. Suddenly a blinding flesh of lightning tears the night apart, and with a frightful crash the huge tamarind with their tree-top home is toppled to the ground. Fortunately no one is hurt. (Continued.)
