PAGE EIGHT GENERAL UNIVERSITY DAILY KANSAN, LAWRENCE, KANSAS TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 1940. Robertson in Tears--event which invariably precedes the sound of his voice. Editor Says New Sour Owl Will Be on Sale Thursday Editor Jimmy Robertson stretched out his long legs, their bony structure masked in trousers which hadn't been pressed since the Sophomore Hop. His finger tips searched for bare cheek through a week's growth of whiskers. He finally said, "Well." That didn't exactly answer the question but it was not surprising because Robertson almost never gives a satisfactory reply. After 10 minutes of silence so intense you could have heard a hint drop, the tall, dark Sour Owl chieftan opened his eyes, an $ ^{*} $ "Listen here, you," he exploded, speaking in his native tongue which is a Marshall county version of Kansas nasalized English. We listened. "If you will get away from here and let me dream," he continued, "Til you put it in the paper that the Sour Owl will be on sale Thursday on the campus at a new low price of 15 cents." With this announcement, Robertson's eyes slid noiselessly shut and his face took on the expression of a love-sick college youth who is thinking about his Pi Phi sweet-heart. As peace once more glided into the room on wings of silence, Robertson sprang from his chair, stubbing his left big toe on a pair of size 14 shoes. "Ouch," he shouted, grabbing the injured pedal extremity and dancing about like an apprentice balleina. Then as if there had been no interruption since his previous statement on the Sour Owl, he said. "But don't print one word about 'Confessions of a Coed.' I don't wan't you even to mention it. If the Dean of Men hears about that my college days are over." Robertson put every ounce of sincerity he possessed into those last words. Tears trickled off his chin, making splotches of mud as they lit on his bare feet. His arms hung limply at his sides, one hand unwittingly covering a hole in his trousers at the right knee. He said nothing more. He said nothing about a feature on the origin of the proficiency exam, or about three pages of "Valentines Which Were Never Sent." He didn't mention the jokes, or gossip or cartoons which will be in the new Sour Owl. He didn't even repeat that the magazine will be out Thursday. We left to call a psychiatrist. BEAT MISSOURI!! J.
