A SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 1940. UNIVERSITY DAILY KANSAN, LAWRENCE, KANSAS PAGE FIVE "SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON" Featuring Thomas Mitchell, Edna Best, Freddie Bartholomew, Terry Kilburn, Tim Holt, Baby Bobby Quillan . . . Produced by Gene Towne and Graham Baker; Distributed by RKO Radio. 3 Fully loaded and with the livestock swimming alongside tethered to the raft, the Robinsons abandon the wreck and begin their perilous crossing to the shore. Again and again green seas sweep over the frail craft, filling the barrels and tubs with water; but by dint of constant balling they manage, somehow, to stay afloat. . . The nightmarish trip is finally completed in safety, and after they have brought all their salvage ashore, the exhausted family, led by the father, offer a prayer to Providence for their deliverance from the angry sea. The following day, the sea having subsided, William decides to risk another trip to the wreck in order to salvage more necessities. With a sinking heart, Elizabeth, left with Fritz and her baby, watches from the shore as William, Jack, and Ernest begin their hazardous crossing back to the stricken brig. . . Having spent the night on the wreck, William and the boys arise at dawn and begin loading the raft. Suddenly the brig begins to break up under their feet. Working furiously, they manage to complete their loading just in time. But, as they cast off, William trips and is knocked unconscious into the sea. Deregarding his own safety, Jack jumps into the water and rescues his father.
