It was indicated today that by repudiating his confession, Claflin was risking a much longer sentence in order to prove his innocence. Had he upheld his confession, it was said, the charge might not have been so severe.
Dean F. J. Moreau of the School of Law attended the Washington's birthday dinner last night at the Muchlebach hotel, in Kansas City, Mo. Maurice M. Milligan, United States district attorney, was the principal speaker.
