Major Eliot Will Discuss War Problems Major George Fielding Eliot, one of the outstanding military authorities of today, will present his views on the position of America in relation to the nations at war in a lecture to be held Feb. 29. "How Safe We Are from Attack" will be the title of the lecture. Using his military experience as a background, Major Eliot has made a life study of military strategy. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he spent part of his life in Australia. He fought with the Australian Imperial Force from 1914 to 1918. After his return to the United States, Major Eliot served with the Military Intelligence Service of the U.S. Army. He also was stationed at Ft. Leavenworth. Later he was affiliated with the Military Intelligence Division of the War Department. Major Eliot is the author of the recent foreign policy report, "The Military Consequences of Munich." He has also written "The Ramparts Which We Watch," a study of the problems of American national defense. Fields to Play At Negro Varsity Ernie Fields' orchestra nationally known as "America's Sweetset Swing Band" will play for the annual colored varsity Friday night in the Memorial Student Union building ballroom. This year is the first time a "name band" has been secured for the negro party. Featured artists in Field's band include Rene Hall, guitar; Melvin Moore, vocalist; Big Chief, trombone; Buck Douglas and Luther West, saxes.
