The federal Economic Development Administration on Friday approved a $250,000 grant and Kansas State University a joint grant of $100,000, or $50,000.
KU AND KSU RECIEVE GRANTS;
Charles Krider, director of business research for the Institute for Public Policy and Business Research, said the grant was to establish center for assisting with economic development strategies.

Lawrence police said the deliveryman, who had stopped about 1 a.m. to let his overheated car come in, to give the street, agreed to give two men a ride home. One man was dropped off in the 2500 block of Belle Haven and the other told the driver he live in the 2500 block of Haskell Avenue.

As the car approached the corner of 23rd and Louisiana streets, the second man pushed something into the driver's back and "told him to drive if he knew what was for him." Lawrence police said.
The deliveryman jumped out of his car, and the second man then drove off. The car later was found undamaged.
