To This Year's Crop Of Graduates We Offer Our We would like to express our appreciation of the fine patronage of faculty and students which we have enjoyed this year. Congratulations The University of Kansas football team of 1983, rated in spring practice to be one of the strongest Kansas teams since the championship season against the Texas Longhorns, here, Sept. 24, to open the 1983 season. And--serve strength aided in the three touchdown margin of victory. The opening game, against the Bible-coached team, comes only two weeks after the Jayhawks report for fall practice and will be one of the toughest games on the schedule. Dana X. Bail, coach of the Texans the last two years, formerly was coach of the perennial champions of the Big Six, the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Phone 75 NewYork Cleaners Merchants of GOOD APPEARANCE Play Notre Dame Bible is one of the smartest coaches in the nation, as his records show, and undoubtedly will bring a fast, tricky team to face the Jayhawkers. Bible took over the football-girls at Texas at the 76 season, when he signed a 10-2 contract for a $10,000 yearly stipend. Texas Opens Season Here Two Weeks After Practice Starts; Play Notre Dame There Jayhawkers Face Tough Grid Schedule Some of the Texas stars were seen in action at the Kansas Relays. Two of the more notable were "Beeus" Bryan, who a new Relais record in the pole vault, and Gilliam Graham, winner of first place in the javelin. Last year was the 1980 season for the Bible regime and next year should see Texas in the football limelight with a strom team. Notre Dame is on the schedule again after a two-year lapse. The last meeting between the Irish and the Jayhawkers was in 1835 when the green-clad team defeated the red-clad team. The Jayhawkers played the Notre Dame team on even terms until the fourth quarter when superior reserve strength aided in the three touchdown margin of victory. After coming the Texas game and away from home, the Jayhawkers will be hard pressed to win from Notre Dame, although if reserve is need this time Kansas should have it. The third consecutive non-conference game is against Washburn College here. The Blue team was the recipient of a 25 to 2 last half defeat from the Jayhawkers last year as Kansas became infuriated when the team been clipped by Birdy, Washburn field ace. Go To Washington Washington University will be engaged for the first time in four years when the Kansas squad travels to Washington, D.C., for a game Nov. 12. In the last game, Kansas lost to Michigan 7-0 to 9 victory after Missouri had been defeated two days before in a Thanksgiving day game. Not much is known of the Colonials' strength but they should present a big hurdle for the Jayhawkers to sail over. Not only will the long ride back to the Atlantic seaboard take much out of the Kinnan game, it follows the week after Nebraska game so it should be good. Kansas then swings into four consecutive conference games, two away rom home. Following these, George Kansas closes its schedule with the annual Thanksgiving day game Oct. 8—Washburn, here. (25-2) Oct. 15—*Oklaahoma*, here. (6-3) Oct. 22—Iowa State at Ames (14-6) against the traditional rival, Missouri. The game ended in a 0 to 0 tie last fall. Sept. 24—Texas, here. Oct. 1—Notre Dame at South Road. Following is the schedule Oct. 29 —Kansas State at Manhatta (0-7) Nov. 5- *Nebraska, here.* (13-13) Nov. 12—George Washington University at Washington, D.C. Nov. 24—Missouri at Columbia (0-0). *—Conference games. Donates $1,500,000 for Research Chicago, May 31. President Robert Maynard Hutchins of the Uni CONGRATULATIONS!
