Napoleon's army left in a southwest direction, the soldiers loaded with supplies from the north so that leather ready to return to their native land. But the Russian army coming from the south pressed them toward the north so that Napoleon had to retreat over the same route which they had come. For the first time the grand army was defeated. After this on a spot near the river Bolshevets, Napoleon paused poiense pass his troops in review.
