First Lawrence School Held in Unitarian Church "The first free school in Lawrence was started in the building which is now the Utnarian church, about 1566 or 1873," said the Rowckend Burcken, an investigator recently, "and the first school established in Lawrence obtained from the Boston abolitionists."
