The high schools winning in the state championships competed, but they were unable to compete. McPherson declined to compete, so Oberlin, which took second in the state contest substituted in its place, represented the state of Nebraska. The Oklahoma team won three out of the six debates while the Nebraska team won two and the Kansas team was defeated. The Kansas affirmative 2 to in the first debate.
