Belgian Missionary Brings Rare Animal to Captivity
Brussels—a young owl, one of the rarest of large animals and the latest to be discovered, has been brought out of its native jungle by a Dutch zoo, where it lives in baub, and is living in a Belgian zoological park with every apparent intention of continuing to do so. An earlier attempt was made to introduce this rare animal to Europe in the 1950s. It became accustomed and after two months captivity.
This time a more careful program was followed. The young okapi was brought up by hand by the naturalist, and later raised in Congo-rise European plants at the mission station until it had made the transition in dict successfully. A personally connected voyage to Belize followed. He met the personal nipples of Queen Elizabeth.
Brother Joseph, who accomplished this causal zoological feat, has already built a reputation for himself by his work in the domestication of African elephant, hitherto extinct, to investigate for human hardling.
Cheap Antique Frame Proves Very Valuable
Minnapolis, —(UP)—An antiquarian in Mary period, purchased relics in Virginia for $1, was valued at more than $1,000 before it had been re-represented.
The frame, with its fine scroll-like inlay covered with several layers of paint, was discovered in an art museum, the M. King, southern collector, Kung purchased the piece for 81 and later oiled it to Mr. Chelsea S. Pillibury, Minneapolis.
An expert here engaged to restore the frame, removed the paint and found the exquisite "seaweed" design which proved the William and Mary frames were too old. The frame was brought to America from England by some wealthy colonist.
Sloth Million Years Old
New Haven, Conn. — (UP)—What was termed “the most remarkable fossil that has ever come to light,” has been placed on exhibition at the National Museum of Natural History. Notothermuria, a type of ground sloth that lived in Arizona 1,099,000 years ago. The sloth was trapped in a pit and even portions of its hide and snow were preserved in the accretions of age in which it was buried.

The Eisbn medal is awarded annually and was established by associates and friends of Thomas A Edison, who invented the six-string electrical leader as Ellin Thomson, George Wostinghouse, Alexander Gnell Bell, Niklas Teith, John J Carly, W. L. R. Emmet, Robert A. Bassett, T. Japin, and William D. Cohack.
Doctor Jewett is also vice-president of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company in charge of development and research.
