Talk on Photophone Was Closing Feature of Engineers' Program
Speaker Reviews Development of "Hear What You See" Recording Devices
"Recording and reproduction of Sound from the same film on which the picture is taken", the main principle of the "photoneum", called C. W. Stome, f27, consult engineer with the General Company at Sebenectady, the University administration on "The Development of the Photonium".
Stone gave a brief but comprehensive review of the steps taken by scientists and engineers in the development of the tailing motion picture reproduced in a simultaneous action movie. She then discussed the broken films and other disorders common to reproduction by a recording device with film encampment.
Heard First Presentation in 1906
Stone related that he heard his first picture-photograph presentation at the White House in so far as possible. The Viviphae developed in 1927 by Warne Brothers was cited by the consulting engineer as a photographic record of at the same time with a movie film.
New York Orchestra Plays
The lecture of Stone was presented by the Orchestra of Opusceles Overture," a reproduction of the orchestra of Capitol Theater, New York. United College, made a short talk by the use of the photoneum following the musique.

The Mocktone, developed by the Western Electric Company engineers, is another step towards the photophone as it uses the principle of a film. The Photophone, a production of the Radio Corporation of America, is an additional step in that it uses the new idea of using a small part of the movie film for recording one operation of the sound photo unit one operation.
Baron Sibia's high speed motion picture was shown in the evening program in addition to the afternoon at central Administration auditorium.
Saved Pictures Shown
Pictures taken at the enormous speed of 20,000 exposures per second revealed the action of the glass of a balloon inflated by a bullet. The action showed floating glass and enthralling air at the inception of an inflating around airplane wings was shown at 2,100 exposures per second—revealing that air waves could really be seen.
The photophone demonstration was the last of the Engineers' day program. Dean Shanand was very well pleased with the unusual attendance and interest shown by students and interested faculty throughout the day's activities.
New York Society Girl Leads Hunt Expedition
New York, —(UP) —A New York society girl, Mine Gertrude Sandoff is leading an expedition under the guidance of the National Natural History to obtain a group of Nynx, a rare species of African anelurid monkey, to gain a记 section of Abysinia.
Miss Sanford **is** an experienced hunter and a detonat. In spite of her youth (she is in her twenties), she has found time to hunt and rough lands, including some beautiful trees in Tanganyika, one of the great game sections of Africa, she killed, among many head of lesser game, five lions, a rhinoceros, an elephant and a leopard. These animals and the wild game are plentiful in Abyssinia.
Specimens of xylan obtained by the expedition will form one of the groups to be exhibited in Africa hall, an addition to the museum, to be displayed at the late Kate E. Akeley, famous African explorer and naturalist.
A letter which has been halfway around the world in search of its owner is being held at Columbia, Mo. Sent from Jerusalem, addressed to a member of the community to postal authorities, it bears evidence of having visited many places.

For example, a bird experiment by scientists at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Pubs at Maryland may prove a subject to malaria. So the scientists have been able to discover many one portant facts about the disease in their lab.

From canary bird studies, the scientists found that the parasites causing colic in birds were not cell of the blood. They were able to determine the exact number of parasites in a given quantity of blood. This allowed them to determine the scientists found the exact relation between the stage of development of the parasites and the stage of filtration in birds. These researchers in the bird individual affect the development and growth of the parasites and disease. From many discoveries of this sort, made by studying malaria in the crayfish birds, scientists hope to find ways to control the parasites in both birds and human beings.

Ambled, Wiltshire. (UPI) To deter maze weather study weather from any bearing on milk production, Prof. G. Fraser, of the University of New England of agriculture will make a study of conditions in Ambled county in connection with the farmers' short experimental farm here in February.

Seattle, Wash. —The Women's Athletic Association at the University of Washington is sponsoring a high school girls playground. Exhibition games, dancing, and swimming will be held in this gym, and will go to the high school winning first place in the posture parade open to all high school girls.
Rounds of the tournament may be played off at the convenience of the players. The only requirement is in place to take place at the Union building.

Ohio State will continue its policy of awarding no honorary degrees. The recommendation which the faculty considered, suggested that honorary degrees be conferred upon no more students than the number each year, but it was rejected.
