StudEx sets the Student Senate agenda and acts for the senate in times of紧急
The student government's faculty counterpart begins with the Faculty Senate. The Faculty Senate is comprised of the chancellor and his administrative assistants, the vice chancellors, the senior deans and every tenured faculty member.
Because the Faculty Senate is so large, it meets rarely and votes by mail.
This body advises the administrators on matters concerning faculty members. The senate Committee on Technology has requested that no adduction over any faculty member's complaint that ad
ministrators have violated his rights under the doctrine of tenure, which guarantees academic freedom.
The Faculty Council is composed of the 39 faculty members from the University Council and is a workable version of the Faculty Senate. It meets twice a year, but can be called into special session.
The council acts on behalf of the Faculty Senate. Its decisions become law, unless a professor petition the senate to review the council's action.
The Faculty Executive Committee (FacEx) consists of the six faculty members of the Senate Executive Committee.

Getting an emergency short term loan is like borrowing an umbrella to go in the rain—it's a quick temporary helper that must be returned.
"Loans are more expensive for students who don't have the money at the time they need it. Our school expenses, but who say they'll have it later," Jerry Rogers, director of the Office of Student Financial Aid at the University of Kansas, said.
Although emergency loans solve the problem of ready cash for many students, he said, sometimes they have trouble repaying on time because they have other expenses when the loan is due.
Rogers, an associate director, said, "If students can't pay the loan on the due date, they can in to discuss it with us and to tell us when they can repay."
THE SHORT-TERM loans are provided by the Kansas University Endowment Association from funds which have been made available through benefit donations. However, the aid is approved and awarded through the scholarship office.
The interest rate on an overnight loan is six per cent, but once the loan is in default, that is not paid by the 1975-grade academic year, 5,885 students took out emergency loans for a total of $1,317,193.
Rogers said emergency loans paid tuition, room and board expenses, and books and supplies costs. Frequently, students can get a loan within a day, he said.

FacEx. confers regularly with the chancellor and runs the day-to-day business of the Faculty Senate. Also, if a faculty member doesn't think he's been treated fairly by the administration, he goes to FacEx.

University government is the third branch of the network. A combination of student government and faculty government, its elements are the Senate, the University Council and the Senate Executive Committee (SenEx).

The University Senate combines all the members of the Student Senate and all the members of the Faculty Senate to create the unwieldiest body of all

The University Senate concerns itself, with among other things, organization of the administration, requirements for the administration of academic courses and long-range plans.
Twelve Student Senate members elected by that senate and Student Body President Steve Leben as an ex-officio member, the 39 members of the Faculty Council and the chancellor and vice chancellor comprise the University Council.
The University Council meets once a month and is a sleeper version of the University Senate.

SenEx is empowered to act for the University Council and University Senate in all matters requiring expeditious action. It meets with the chancellor continually to discuss any issue that is a problem for the University.
