THE UNIVERSITY DAILY KANSAN BASKET BALL SQUAD GOES TO COLUMBIA "We're Going to Put Up a Real Fight," Coach Sormo CRITICIZES THE PLAYERS Dr. Allen Points Out Flaws in the Work of Several Men The basketball squad will leave for its games with Missouri at 8:20 o'clock Friday morning from the Santa Fe department, arriving in Columbia about the middle of the afternoon. It will not be an over-confident team that leaves here, but it will be one that is full of the old fight and the determination to give the Tigers a real run for their money. "The Tigers should win these games," said Coach "Phog" Allen this morning, "as they have a veteran team to put up against our team. We don't think we are going down there defeated—we're not. We're going down there and put up a real fight every minute of the game. The team's doing its best." The team's disappoints at us but we have a good chance to upset all of it. The team has been working all afternoon every day this week, practicing on the fundamentals of the game. It is in these things that the team has been weak, and it is in them that Allen has been drilling the players. Doctor Allen said yesterday that he was extremely disappointed in the work that Captain Uhrlnb has been doing in the games this year and that Uhrlnb was playing far below his standard of the game, the only player who played a wonderful game in the first game with Ames and Grinell, fell down in the second game in each instance, and seems to be an "in-and-out," playing a good game a one day and a rotten one the next. Olson the other center, plays a fine game until a goal or so, but then he lets it down. Doctor Allen said. "Rody is another man plays by spurts, and cannot really be depended on in too tight a game. Dendacot is the only man on the squad who has been playing a consistent game. He plays a very fast game at guard and it takes a good man to go through him." the coach said. "On the whole, the team has been playing too inconsistently to show up as winners from the veterans of the Tiger team and it will take a mighty good fight to lick the Missouri quintet," said Doctor Allen. "Sounds paradoxical and may have already disagreed with the Reverend Mrs. McKee, but a pun was the lowest form of wit." Teacher's Pet Gets Deserts From Proj But in the University, several instructors are giving, as a part or a whole of their final quizzes this semester, the assignment of making out a comprehensive set of questions covering the entire course of study. The instructors using the system however, say that it gets more work out of the students. They further declare that the novelty of the material he student "finds" and that the idea is very much in favor of the idea. One class, in which quizzes were given last Saturday had news of the assignment in advance, and all brought neatly written quizzes, covering all of the phases of the course. When they arrived, the teacher met by the instructor, who smilingly informed them that the other part of their quiz would be to answer the questions that they had so thoroughly searched out. Woe for the dear things who had prepared hard sets to make a hit! Consternation hit the class like a tornado, and the examinations were though the top of Fraser had blown off, or as thought the Blake Hall clock loomed out the correct time of day.
