NEW RULES FOR CORNELL. Freshmen Athletes Barred=---Summer Ball Tabooed. Cornell is considering the adoption of a new set of eligibility rules, to settle definitely the interpretation of the word "amateur" in athletics at Ithaca. The main provisions follow: 1. No student shall represent the university on a varsity athletic team until he has been in residence at the university one year. 2. No student shall represent the university on a varsity athletic team for more than three years, nor after the graduation of the class with which he entered the university, unless he has been absent from the university for other reasons than those of scholarship.
