Miss Louiseius has invited several guests to spend the time at her home in St. Joseph, Mo. Those from the college attended Nelson, Nelson, Nelson, Nelson, Leon Bartle, Frank Stevens, and William Morley. Howard L. (Swiss) Nebuy, senior engineer, is making a collection of pictures of the members of the faculty doing the work himself with his assistants. The Eastman Prof. W. A. Whitaker is the latest addition to the collection. Many heroes go unrewarded but nevertheless their praises should be sung. When a canoe, in which Roscoe Redmond, a senior law and justice professor, takes a ride, capizsed one afternoon this week a tragedy was narrowly averted by the prompt assistance of Albert Rosa and Alfred Hillman, both of whom live at 1328 Vermont, who were rowing near them. Ross was injured, the unfavorites to the shore and then modestly forgot the matter. Alberta Cady, a junior in the College, was climbing Adams street hill on a windy afternoon this week, pondering conscientiously over a neglected lesson. A full-grown potato puller and a sensible sense of humor, picked up a wash-tub from a back porch along Adams street and started it down the hall. The rattling tub heads straight for Miss Cady, who edges to left. Tub followd Tub's distressers to lee-den. Tub follows Daisie's signals "S. O. S." to innocent bystander. Quick rescue. Another hero on the hill. The cartoons which Henry Maloy have been running in the Daily Kauan this year are not only making a name for him in the University of Kansas but are attracting the attention of editors in other schools. Chester Westfall, associate editor of *Hare* has written that "Have you been watching Maloy's cartoons on the Student Council with much interest. That man Maloy is about the keenest in the Valley. The big dailies haven't much on Maloy." C. E. Williamson, alias "Crummy," is now christened, and hereafter is to be known in the Daily Kansan as, C. Edgar W. It has come about in this manner. It said C. Edgar insists that when the name "Crummy" is used it should be hemmed in by quotations. Now the Kansan's style book says that when a nick-name is wide and generally known that quotes should not be used. Therefore, so be it with Crummie. C. Edgar's kick No. 2 is to the effect that he would like very much to have it spelled the same way always, either "Crummie", or "Crummy", or he wouldn't even object to "Crumleigh". It always stood that way. But the kansan refused to be responsible, it's a hard name to spell; no one ever heard of anything just like it; therefore, as above stated, it shall be C. Edgar. Congratulations. C. Edgar. Sweet Home, Oregon, isn't much of a town. It has only two hundred and two inhabitants and is forty miles from a railroad. But when Roy Knapp, a sophomore in the College, saw the Oregon pictures in Fraser Wednesday night, they carried him right back to Sweet Home, and as he puts it he "was sure homesick for home sweet home." Roy used to live there and says the scenery is really like the pictures showed. Carl Tobe Baer left Thursday afternoon for Kansas City where he was to visit relatives and on Friday morning meet the K. U. Architectural Engineers, inspect the style of buildings of the city and visit the new Union Station. Tobe expects to stay until Sunday night and attend services at two of Kansas City churches. Miss Trine Latta is one of those fortunate people who live so near to school that they may go home occasionally for some of mother's cooking. Miss Latta will spend the week-end at her home in Wichita. Girls aren't the only ones interested in domestic science. A boy's club has a ten by twelve garden spaded up a week ago and has been debating ever since on the amount of radishes and onions to be planted. When the freshmen decided not to wear the usual freshman millinery, they let the University of Oklahoma get ahead of them. Oklahoma adopted a rule to wear the cap early in March. He is always in demand. His position is often one of large responsibility. He is well paid. A four-year course in mechanical engineering with the advantages of fully equipped shops and laboratories, prepares the student to enter this broad field under the best conditions.
