Latin Not Necessary Is Decision at Yale Only Law Medical Students Need Language Says Professor Smith Yale University has dropped Latin as a requirement for admission to the University. "The chief value of Latin is in the high school where it helps the students to formulate a better understanding of the English language," said Prof. Arthur T. Walker of the department of ancient language here. "Latin is not a requirement to enter U. K. The chief value of Latin in the University is to students in medicine or law, who need the language for the interpretation of their scientific terminology." The action of Yale is in line with what might have been expected, for Yale is one of the eastern schools that has held out the longes in this requirement. Women Will Make Dates For Jay Walk April 11 The big chance of the year for rank feminists to assert themselves and ask the men for dates is for the Jay Walk, W. the A. dance to be given Friday night, April 11, in Robinson Gymnastium. It is permissible and conventional for women to invite the men to this dance, and they may even have the privilege of paying the ad price, which is $1.50. Eddie Kuhs and Chaquette will play, and the W.A.A. party will equal any similar affair arranged by men students. This is Monday night, so clever women will make their dates at once, and avoid the embarrassment of being turned down. Warren Wattles to Visit Here Warren Wattles, A. FOLLIES OF 1919 JESSIE WYATT and FREDDIE LEACH Both K. U. favorites, are the stars in this year's big show. Florence Ingham and David Sheffrey, well-known Hill players, are the irate parents who pursue the lovers ruthlessly. You'll want to see the good-looking girls in the choruses, and you'll like the skit Ed Patton has written around the latest song hits. "Chub" MacNaughton is manager, so it will be ONE show. Did you know that Prof. Fergy's original waltz, "Springtime Was Made for Lovers," and Mark Law's composition to the effect that"I Just Must Dance"are both features of the Follies? And had you heard that Ruth Massey, Edna Chain, Arnstina Cissna, "Peg" Reinisch, Wilfred Husband, Mabel Fallis, Charlotte Carnie, Eloise McNutt, Joe Schwartz and Webb Wilson all have specialties.
