Higginson Given Research Post John Higginson, associate professor of pathology at the School of Medicine, has been appointed to a research professorship in geographical pathology. The professorship will be paid from the income from a cancer research fund of $50,000 bequeathed to the KU Endowment Association by the late Mrs. Martha E. Lewis of Kansas City, Mo. The fund memorializes Mrs. Lewis and her late sister, Katherine Hubbard. Prof. Higginson has utilized this approach in his study of cancer, heart and liver diseases. He has published many papers on geographical pathology. Geographical pathology refers to the pattern of disease and its pathological manifestations to environment, as related to mode of life and sociological situations. Prof. Higginson will continue his teaching and research interests, but he also will be responsible for developing cooperative research in geographical pathology between the University and medical institutions abroad.
