Page 6 University Daily Kansan Tuesday, May 19. 1959 College Students Receive Research Awards for 1959-60 Thirty-six students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will hold undergraduate research awards in 1959-60. Nineteen awards are supported by a special grant from the National Science Foundation. The remainder are financed by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. Students chosen will participate actively in the research work of a senior faculty member. They will devote between eight and ten hours a week to their research undertaking. Each award carries a stipend of $400. The selection of students for these awards was made by a special committee of the College. Francis H. Truman, the former first lady who was reported in satisfactory condition 24 hours after she underwent surgery for a breast tumor, learned today she was a grandmother for the second time. born to their daughter, Margaret, in New York.
