Page 16 University Daily Kansan Thursday. Sept. 11, 1958 38 Foreign Educators Will Visit, Study Here A total of 38 foreign educators will visit and study at KU this fall. Twenty secondary teachers from foreign countries will study at KU during the fall semester under the International Teacher Development Program. Teachers will study at KU from Sept. 22-Dec.19. The University will provide two basic seminars, one dealing with current problems in secondary education, and the other with organization and administration of secondary methods. Teachers will be able to audit courses in their fields of interest and will have individual or small group conferences with advisers. KU also will provide a full-time program coordinator, Dr. Emma M. Birkmaier, to be in charge of the group. She will be on leave from her position as head of the foreign languages department at the University of Minnesota High School and professor of education at Minnesota University. Eighteen presidents, deans, registrars and department heads of British Commonwealth institutions of higher education will also visit KU today through Saturday on a special tour. Scholarship Tests To Be Given Early The statewide testing program for the Putnam scholarship competition at Kansas State College and the Summerfield and Elizabeth M. Watkins competitions at KU will be three months earlier than last year. Present plans call for the winning script to be produced in the Experimental Theatre sometime in the late spring. There are no limitations on eligibility, except that the contestant be an amateur in the field of play writing. High school senior boys and girls nominated by their principals will take the preliminary examinations either October 27 or 28 at one of several testing centers.
