Nov. 12, 1956 Military Ball Finalists Chosen Twelve finalists for queen of the annual Military Ball, to be held Dec. 8, were named Sunday by a queen selection committee headed by Pat Canyita, Wichita senior. The 12 were chosen on the basis of photographs submitted to the committee. Photos of 40 women were entered. 12 Finalists The finalists are Marcia Hall, Coffeyville sophomore, Pi Beta Phi; Barbara Hauck, Kansas City, Mo., junior, Kappa Alpha Theta; Shirley Burnham, Kansas City, Mo., sophomore, Delta Delta Delta; Sharon Dye, Wichita sophomore, Kappa Gamma; Judy Allen, Topeka sophomore, Chi Omega; Beverly Sargent, Great Bend freshman, Corbin Hall. Peggy Garrison, Phillipsburg sophomore, Alpha Chi Omega; Virginia Hancock, Topeka sophomore, Delta Gamma; Elizabeth Jane Embry, Omaha, Neb., freshman, Gertrude Sellards, Pearson Hall; Sylvia Frost, Kansas City, Mo., junior, Gamma Phi Beta; Virginia Kihm, Hutchinson freshman, Sellards Hall, and Dana Haglund, Wichita sophomore, Kappa Kappa Gamma. The 12 women will attend a Military Ball publicity committee meeting at 7:30 Thursday. Final selection of a queen and two attendants will be based on poise and personality, and will be made after a coke party for the 12 women Nov. 28 and a formal selection Dec. 5. Coke Party The ball, which will be held in the Student Union Ballroom, is a joint dance of the Army, Navy and Air Force ROTC units. House Decorations Destroyed House decorations at Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority were destroyed Sunday night by a group of boys who raced into the yard and tore down decorations and threw light bulbs into the street. Damages were estimated at $75 to $100.
