It is old, leaking, has nottoo-sturdy walls. It provides inadequate facilities, and, according to the chancellor, Haworth is not much better. The administration has several reasons why the physical education building is not on the list of priorities such as the inadequacy and condition of many buildings. Fraser Hall is much worse than Robinson. One instructor of English in Fraser tells of a third floor office space space: "We were grading papers one day when we heard some sort of fluttering noise from the ceiling. We walked over to the wall and looked up. We could see some birds building a nest. "That's right. The outer wall is pulling away from the inner structure and you could see daylight through the opening. They've put molding over the split, but it's hardly properly prepared." The new wing to be built on the Library will be started next year and will come within 20 feet of Fraser, making the structure built in 1872 an obstruction to campus planning and beauty. Mr. Nichols said that the University's needs can be met with funds the legislature can give KU in the next ten years, but he says the fact of the matter is that KU needs all of the funds immediately.
