Congress Reveals US-Cuban Losses WASHINGTON — (UPI) Congressional testimony revealed today that the United States spent about $45 million on the ill-fated Cuban rebel invasion attempt. The figure was given at a closed-door session of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Latin American affairs by high-ranking officials of the Central Intelligence Agency, according to senators who attended the highly-secret hearings. These same sources said Gen. Lyman L. Lemnitzer, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, told the subcommittee at a later hearing that the military had no control over spending the money and that United States equipment used in the invasion attempt was purchased from the Pentagon.
