UNIVERSITY DAILY KANSAN Police Beat 3 suspects jailed in armed robbery Three Kansas City men are being held in the Douglas County jail on $5,000 bond in connection with the armed robbery Tues., Feb. 16, at Liquor Store 209 New Hampshire St. Pollice said yesterday that Mike Jones, 19, and Gregory Lionel Jones, 18, both of 3006 North Third in Kansas City, Kan., and Ronald Erich Randall, 19, 267 Russel Kansas City, Kan. All police allegedly helped up the scene at 1:10 p.m. and were arrested shortly after 2 p.m. After the cash register was emptied, the men took Mason to the stock room, tied his ankles and arms with an extension cord then fled on foot. Police said two men entered the store and held Roger Mason, manager, at gunpoint and forced him to give them $165 from the cash register. When Mason heard the men leave, police said, he freed himself from the cord and called the poice. Police said they obtained a search warrant for the car and found the handgun in the backseat. Money, furniture taken on campus University police yesterday reported the trouble with furniture and furniture from urgently buildings. Student's jewelry clothing are stolen City police yesterday reported a burden of students from University of Kansas freshman's apartment. Police said Laura Monical, Eudora freshman, 2400 West 24th Terrace, reported the theft of $868 in jewelry and about $40 of clothing. The theft occurred between 4 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Tuesday, police said. Monical reported that the burglar had lifted a sliding door from its track and taken a $76 ring, a $200 gold diamond ring, two watches, and some clothing. Also, two Lawrence men reported thefts yesterday from their automobiles. Frank Barnes, 309 East 11th St., reported the theft of three mag wheel and tires worth $123 from his car parked at Foil Oil Co. Inc., 740 North 2nd st. Barnes told police the theft could have happened any time since Sept. 1. Dary) Stine, 543 North 3rd St. reported that a tool box and $186 of tools were stolen from the bed of his truck parked at his home. Another theft reported Tuesday was of two plants valued at $155 from the home of Linda Boyd, 2036 Ousheld Road. City workers to file grievances Two Lawrence utility workers today will submit grievance forms against Gene Vogt, director of utilities, to the city personnel manager. George Blevins Sr. and Phil Biera, utility workers, will submit grievance forms charging age discrimination and improper job assignments to Kevin Burt, city personnel manager. If there are no further complications, the grievance forms go to the Grievence Board, a panel that hears management-employee complaints. According to procedures outlined in the city employees' code, the workers had to first submit their grievance forms to Vogt to see if he could solve their problems. "I don't feel he really means what he says," Belvins said. "I think I'll take it to the Grievance Board." The workers submitted the forms earlier in the week. Vogt issued his resolutions to their problems yesterday, but the workers were not satisfied with his solutions. Edward R. Roybal and that it reprimand Rep. Charles H. Wilson, both California Democrats, for their influence-buying scandals. The recommendation toensure Roybal came on a 9-0 vote. The vote to reprintm Wilson came on a 8-1 vote. One member voted "present." The findings of fact against the two were the first returned by the ethics committee since it began its probe of the scandal nearly two years ago. The committee recommendation for Wilson's reprimand came from an allegation that he lied to the committee over his involvement with the museum from Toussaint Park, a Korean rice dealer.
