The upper 10 per cent of each class includes 53 freshmen, 39 sophomores, 48 juniors and 64 seniors. Smith, associate professor of design, will direct the workshop which will include designing and making silver jewelry. Simple soldering processes, wire work and application of design and techniques in the making of Jewelry and silversmithing from antique to modern will be taught. Participants will be trained in the use of tools, processes and materials. Good craftsmanship will be stressed. The workshop is designed for students who need to round out their art education and for hobbyists who want an introduction to jewelry and silversmithing. Classes will be in the Kansas Union.
