Kansan staff report The University Senate calendar committee heard a proposal Tuesday afternoon at a fall break at KU. The committee did not take any action on the proposal. Lawrence Maxey, University Senate calendar committee chairperson, said that before the committee could consider the idea, it needed to be explained in a clear and opinion about allowing just one Regents school to have a fall break. "It will be greatly complicated if all the schools have to implement a fall break before any one can," he said. Student Senate proposed the idea for a two- to three-day fall break during the Spring 1990 campaign. The proposal is based on the idea that fee payment by mail, tentatively scheduled to begin in Fall 1992, will be the calendar. The earliest the fall break could be incorporated is Fall 1995. Maxey said the committee did not discuss the proposal enough to judge the committee's reaction. The committee will consider the proposal when more information is available, Maxey said. He said the proposal would have to be approved by the calendar committee. University Council, the student body, should ensure before it could be implemented.
