German Student Pipes at HOADLEY'S Has Served U. Twenty=Four Years. Nathan Miller, known to K. U. students as "Old Nate," has been a janitor in the University for twenty-four years. Nate was a member of the 83rd Regiment of Kansas Volunteers during the Civil War. He was living in Lawrence at the time of the Quantrell Raid, and escaped being killed by running out of town as far as Cameron's Bluff. The old man is sixty-one years of age. Owing to his faithful service he is assured a place in the University as long as he lives. Went to the Penitentiary. As a member of the committee of the State board of health, Prof. Bailey visited the state penitentiary last Friday to inspect the existing sanitary conditions.
