Mo. — An administrative judge for the federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission, citing the possibility of danger to the public, has shut down a nuclear research project at the University of Missouri The administrative judge, Peter Bloch, said in an order issued Saturday that the university had failed to meet with nuclear licensing regulations. The project involves efforts to separate the most long-lived elements of nuclear waste from short-lived ones. "Hence, I presume that the activities are unduly dangerous to public safety."
