The pilot told officers that he was unaware that it was against the law to land a helicopter in a residential area. The officers told the pilot that charges might be filed against A 20-YEAR-OLD Lawrence woman was treated and released Saturday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital for a gunshot wound to her right leg. The woman suffered the wound from a .22 caliber derringer that accidentally fired when she fell in the foot of bank of West 31st Street, police said. A 26-YEAR-OLD Lawrence man was in stable condition in the intensive care unit at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after being stabbed in the left side of his chest at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday at a residence in the 300 block of A 12-YEAR-OLD Topeka boy was treated and released at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after being struck Wednesday by a hit-and-run driver while crossing Sixth Street in front of the Union Bus Depot. The westbound car, described as brown and driven by a white male who was possibly in his early 40s, backed up and drove around the victim after striking him, police said.
