5 Carlin to hear University appeal against cuts in budget requests By JEFF SJERVEN Staff Reporter University of Kansas administrators are preparing to appeal proposed cuts in the University's budget requests at Gov. Mini-clinics will be held at 2 p.m. JFK vibraphone students will meet with Howard Pitler, band director at Wichita Heights High School. A session on percussion maintenance will be conducted by Brian Calderon KU graduate attending the Cleveland Conservatory of music. Mimarina composer and performer Gordon Stout also will conduct an afternoon clinic and perform with the Wichita Marimba Band. The Wichita State University Marimba Ensemble, led by Combs, will perform in concert at t.p.m. Admission to the eight-hour clinic will be $1.50 for PAS members and $3 for non-members.
