Blue Cross, hospital clash over new rule
WICHITA — Wesley Medical Center is threatening to sue Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas unless the insurance company rescinds by Monday a new policy to stop making payments directly to the hospital.
In August, Blue Cross, the state's largest health insurer, announced it would no longer pay the bills of Blue Cross subscribers directly to Wesley, the state's second-largest hospital. Instead, beginning Jan. 1, Blue Cross will send its subscribers, who will then be responsible for reimbursing the hospital.
