But their business spans four continents — from the palaces of Third World autocrats to the limousines of European industrialists. They are mercenaries, men in their 20s and 30s with experience in elite Israeli combat units. They have become a new export product for this country, selling their expertise to guards and weapons instructors. At least 100 Israelis are employed as private guards and personal bodyguards overseas. Job offers are among veterans of elite army units. Recruitment is sometimes carried out through former Israeli security agents who reside abroad or through wealthy expatriate Israelis, said a reserve army captain, who is deputy manager of an established Tel Aviv security firm.
