"It used to be that every farmer had a eder press when they had to be careful when it's getting harder and harder to find them." She decided to take the presses to the festival and when she saw that vendors were selling store-bought. One of the presses has an 1866 patent date, Burchill said, and its design is similar to that of a fruit press Johann Gutenberg adapted into his printing press 500 years ago. The Burghills are among about 250 craftsmans and performers appearing at the festival, which is held in May. On the next four weekends, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., jugglers and jesters, mimes and musicians, witches and wizards will amuse and amaze passers-by on the six-acre fairgrounds.
