8 Wednesday, November 20, 1974 University Daily Kansan THE UNIVERSITY DAILY KANSAN SPORTS Cage warm-up to feature position changes By MARK ZELIGMAN Sports Editor Sports Editor The line-up that KU Coach Ted Owens will field tonight in the annual Amron-Closel intraassault basketball game might surprise some people. Owens said the five people that would play on the Blue team were the five that would start right now. He did say, however, the situation could change before the season opener on Nov. 30 against Northeast Missouri State. The Blue starters will be sophomores Norman Cook and Von Moore at forwards, senior Rick Suttle at center and junior Roger and Roger Morningstar at guards. The Jayhawks lost only one starter from last year's Big Eight championship team, playmaker Kivisto. Because of Kivisto's graduation, Owens has had to do more work than before for the Greenlee from the second guard to the point guard, Morningstar from forward to guard and Von Moore from the bench to the starting line-up. Knowing the Jayhawks would need someone to replace Kivisto, Owens recruited four guards and only one big man, 6-21 Freshman Ken Koenigs. The four new players are Jason, Clinton Johnson and Marc Fletcher, an college junior college transfer Rick Bussard. Owens did say that he thought the Jaways would blame bandleader learn if one of the players could be taken. "It is asking a whole lot to ask a freshman to come in and be your quarterback," Owens said. "It is easier for a freshman to call you." It is easier for a freshman to run your balloon is something else." "The thing that concerns me is that it causes some people to play out of their best positions," he said. "What makes Morningstar so good is his versatility as a broker. What Greentee does so well is get open without the ball while at the second guard." Although Owens said he thought each of the newcomers could eventually play, he said he didn't want to rush them into the ineup. Koenigs a highly recruited freshman from Goddard, will start on the Crime队 The other two starters on the Crismon team are seniors Danny Knight and Tommie Smith. Owens had considered using a double post defense, but has not decided to use a single bomb. "We have a lot more maneuverability and are more mobile in the single post," he said. "Danny and Rick work so much better in a team," he said. "And we aren'tated and aren't packed in on one another." Owens said sophomore guard Reuben Wilson would probably be redshirted this week, but he isn't. "I've talked it over with Reuben," Owens said.
