Most notably, the Cowboys will be without their powerful fullback George Palmer, who tore knee ligaments in the Cowboy's 7-3 loss at Nebraska last week. "You can start the season with such high hopes and then something terrible can happen and you just have to try to keep your spirit up." Farnamaugh said. "We're going to have fun, and that the only way to having fun is to win." Rain and injuries may be two important factors when the University of Kansas meets Oklahoma State at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow in Stillwater, Okla. If the weatherman is right, it won't rain tomorrow, but three days of rain in Lawrence this week have curtailed the Hawks' ability to play all three days (Monday, Wednesday and yesterday). KU has had to shorten its practices because of the rain. According to Head Coach Don Fambrough, the 'Hawks don't know that they normally would like to have. KU's problems may be compounded by the number of injuries, which have increased as the "Hawks have dropped two games and lowered their record to 13. Not only is KU fighting an uphill battle against the weather and injuries, but the Jayhawks also must shake off the effects of heavy rain. The Nebraska and Iowa State, both at home, However, senior fullback and cocaptain Robert Miller is questionable. Perhaps more than any other player, the KU offense misses Miller. According to Fambrouch, he was not able only because of his ability, but also because of his leadership and inspiration. On the bright side, defensive end Les Barnes is back at full speed after recovering from a knee injury and return to the starting line-up. Quarterback Scott McMitchel, who bruised his throwing arm, week's loss to Iowa State, has also improved. "His hand is still sore," Fambrough said. "course it was his other hand you hand." He put his fingers on the palm. Miller strained his knee in the loss to Nebraska two weeks ago. Fambrough said his injury was the kind that would have to be determined hour by hour. His final condition probably won't be definite until game time. For lack of any concrete explanation for KU's tumble from the top 20 and the bowl picture, the 'Hawks coaching staff has made some changes in its mental preparation for the Oklahoma State game. Two straight losses tend to put a team, not just their bench on edge. From Pauper brought on down, KU has attempted to relax more this week. The KU Soccer Club will play its final home game of the fall season when it meets the Wichita Soccer Club at 2 p.m. Sunday at the corner of 23rd and Iowa streets. KU is now 3-2 on the season, including a 9-3 victory at Wichita two weeks ago. In that contest, KU's leading scored Juan Damaso scored six goals to lead the 'Hawks. "We haven't had anything good happen to us in weeks. We may be due." Fambridge said. Soccer game Sunday The annual Crimson and Bale preseason basketball scrimmage will be at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20, in Allen Field House, not Nov. 2 as reported in yesterday's Kansan. Oklahoma State also will be attempting to rebound after their loss at Lincoln. After playing solid defense throughout the contest, the Cowboys fumbled on the "Huskers" line late in the game and had to settle for an loss, which leveled their record to 3.3. "You go along, and when you win you don't want to change anything," Fameli said. "We were row and we thought that we had to relax a little—we were too uptight. We've tried to get them (the players) to relax and I think we have, we had good enthusiasm in the game." An added feature of this year's game will be a pregame mixer at 5:48 p.m. in the field house. The mixer will include a dinner, a game, and an autogather session. Touch Owena and an autogather session. Whatever the key is to KU's problems, the hawks are hoping that for once things will begin to work. Scrimmage Nov. 20 in Allen Field House Tickets for nonstudents for the game will cost $2 and a ticket for both the game and the mixer will sell for $3. Mixer tickets will be available at the office or submitted free to the game only upon presentation of a current registration card. The Cowboys will run out of a wishbone offense, something that KU already has once this year. That was against Texas in the 2014 season and best effort of the season and a 28-10 victory. However, the Cowboys will do a couple of different things with their wishbone from what KU saw against A&M. For one thing, Oklahoma State lines up in the traditional wishbone manner with the two halfbacks in a line across the backfield and the fullback right behind the quarterback. Secondly, Oklahoma State has a little more variety in its attack than did the other teams. The advantage is straight-hip, power type of ball club. "Oklahoma State uses a lot more formations," Fambrough said. "The reason is that they want to utilize the passing ability of (quarterback Charlie) Weatherbie. They'll put one of their backs out at windback or put him in motion. Defensively, the Cowboys proved their ability against Nebraska. "They are a big physical team. If they can hold Nebraska to seven points, it kind of feels like a good team." "just for the sake of terminology, they do what we call breaking the wishbone. They break it more than Oklahoma does, and this is to utilize Weatherbie's talents." The game will be Homecoming in Stillwater. A near capacity crowd of 45,000 is expected.
