Defensive back Kurt Kurtförr returned to practice yesterday, after sitting out the last two weeks with a broken thumb. Don Fambrough said a decision on Knofr's status for Saturday's game against Texas A&M would be made tomorrow. 'Hawks recovering from injuries preparing for Aggie wishbone Kicker Mike Love and linebacker Odell Weidner suffered minor injuries in the Florida State game but are expected to be at full speed on Saturday. Love was clipped on a kickoff return and has a bruised hip. Weidner pinched a nerve in his neck while making a tackle. Fambridge said he had accomplished all he had expected to do in yesterday's practice. After the workout, the team trained and got a scouting report on Texas A&M. The Aggies use a wishbone offense which the Jawhaws haven't faced yet this year. "The wishbone is a fine offense," Farm- brough said, "but it's like all other offenses." Auburn, ranked 11th, made the Top 20 for the first time this season after a 21-0 whipping of Tennessee. Tennessee had been No. 14 but dropped out of the rankings. rankings found Nebraska up from 10th to sixth by defeating Northwestern 49-7, Notre Dame down to No. 7, North Carolina State up from 13th to eight with a 28-22 triumph over Syracuse, Southern California up from 18th to ninth by defeating Pitt 16-7 and Texas Tech up from an also-ran all the way to 10th by upsetting Texas 28-3. Texas A&M is undefeated and ranked fifth in the latest national poll. Alabama and Michigan also climbed one position each to third and fourth. Alabama, a 23-10 winner over Vanderbilt, received four first-place votes and 898 points while earned five No. 1 votes but only 678 points following a 23-4 obliteration of Bowie. The rest of the Second 10 consists of Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Penn State, Miami of Florida, Pitt, Arizona State, Texas and Arkansas. Notre Dame, ranked second a week ago, had its hopes for a second consecutive national championship jolted in a 31-20 loss to Purdue. The Fighting Irish dropped to seventh place while Oklahoma, the No. 1-ranked University massacred UA State 72-3 and moved up from third to second with 25 first-place votes and 1,002 points. A total of nine different players scored in the game, which gave the club's record to 3-1 for the season. The B-team defeated St. Benedict's, 32-0, the fourth straight outfielder for the B-team. The Jahawk rugby team plays its next game at 1:30 p.m. Saturday against the Topek Rugby Club at Washburn University in Topek.
