Notre Dame barely edged out Ohio State. Although Notre Dame didn't play last weekend, the Fighting Irish, second a week ago, made it back to the No. 1 spot when Oklahoma declined in the voters' opinions with a hard-earned 28-10 defeat over lowly Bavlor, only a 2-9 team last fall. Arkansas' surprising Razorbacks made a shock to the Bay Area over Southern California that dropped Trojans from 6th to 13th. Nebraska vaulted from 7th to 4th with an impressive 61-7 outrun.
