Taiwan government to be honored

The Free China Club and the Chinese Student Association of the University of Kansas will celebrate today and tomorrow the 75th birthday of Taiwan's republican government, which was established in 1911.

Seventy-five years ago during this month, the Manchu Dynasty was overthrown and a republic was proclaimed. The first president was Sun Tat-sen, who organized the parliamentarian Kuomintang party.

Tomorrow the KU Chinese Student Association will celebrate the birthday of the republican government with a "China Day" at the Lawrence Community Building, 115 West 11th. The program will begin at 3:50 p.m. Saturday and is open to the public. The cost is $1 for non-club members.
