8 Thursday, August 28,1975 University Daily Kansan County to allocate HUD grant Administration of Douglas County's first community development fund grant will be the subject of a meeting today between the two parties, and the county federal funds consultant, Calderman, county federal funds consultant; The grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, announced earlier this week by the office of Sen. Bob Dole, R-Kan., is the result of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974. Douglas County's grant of $225,000 was $60,000 less than what the county originally requested, but $20,000 more than what HUD required. Coleman said the Community Development Act replaced several federal programs that had been discontinued such as banual renewal and model cities programs. Coleman said several questions remained to be worked out before the money could be disbursed. Events...
