'Red Dragon' first at box office

LOS ANGELES — Audiences still have an appetite for Hannibal Lecter.
Red Dragon, the third film featuring Anthony Hopkins as the cannibalistic serial killer, debuted as the No.1 film, taking in $36.5 million in its opening weekend.
The top 20 movies in North American theaters Friday through Sunday, as compiled Monday by Exhibitor Relations Co. Inc. and Nielsen EDI Inc. are as follows.
