The multicultural buffet included German potato salad, Malaysian curried chicken, Iranian rice, and even some barbecued pork. All the food was prepared by Lawrence residents. Eunice Ebert-Stallworth, a KU graduate who introduced the entertainment, said the event proved that Lawrence was a thriving cultural center. The nonprofit group holds a cultural festival every April, sponsors forums to promote various cultures in Lawrence, and publishes a resource directory that lists cultural speakers and materials available in Lawrence. The directory is sent to local schools and is also available to the public. "Everyone has been very friendly, and the food is great," he said. Lass spoke to the crowd about his city, Eutin, in northern Germany. Eutin is Lawrence's German sister-city. Opening ceremonies for Harvest of Arts week will be at 7 tonight at Burcham Park, Second and Indiana streets.
