Author: Choice not feminist Legalized abortion contributes to sexist attitudes, speaker says enemy of reproduce woman Nine ex
Feminists have made a mistake linking themselves to the pro-choice side of the abortion issue, a co-author of the book "Prolife Feminism: Different Voices," said yesterday.
Other evidence points to negative effects on reproductive health, she said.
"Abortion as feminism is a lie," said Juli Loresh Wiley, co-chair of Feminists for Life of Tennessee, in a book published by Killing Authentic Feminist."

Tricia Trausch, president of KU Students for Life, the group that brought Wiley to campus, said her goal for the speech was not necessarily to convert the audience to the group's view on abortion.
"Instead of pressing for equal responsibility, we stepped back and said, 'OK, we'll settle for equal irresponsibility." Wiley said.
She said that choosing abortion allowed men the freedom to shirk their responsibilities as fathers.
If abortion is an option that a pregnant woman forges, then the father of the child can say that she alone chose to have the baby and he is absolved of his duties, she said.
If abortion were not an option, then men would be forced to face up to their responsibility. she said
"I don't care whether or not people change their minds and go out of here saying, 'Gosh, I'm pro-life now,' she said. 'I was always about the material she made about.'
Melanie Pearson, Leavenworth junior, sad that she would call herself a feminist and that Wiley's speech had an impact on about her own position on abortion.
Wiley said abortion also forced a pregnant woman to think of her fetus as an adversary, rather than an extended part of herself.
Wiley said she was convinced that abortion was not healthy for a woman's physical, emotional or spiritual life.
"A woman's life and the new life don't mutually conflict," she said. "There is no way to help an unborn baby without reaching out in love towards the woman who's carrying the baby. There's no way to help the woman without fostering the natural and healthy development of the child and there's no way to hurt the unborn child without hurting the woman in some way."
