12 Wednesday, November 11, 1987 / University Daily Kansan Sports Briefs Men's golfers finish fourth After Monday's play was washed out by rain, the Kansas men's golf team finished fourth in a field of 11 teams at the Fourth Annual Hal Sutton Invitational in Shreveport, La. All 36 holes of the tournament were played yesterday. McNeese State won the tournament with a 580 total, defeating second place Mississippi State by 11 strokes. Louisiana State finished third with a 595 total, and Kansas had a 604 total. Steve Pope of Mississippi State was the tournament's medalist with a 36-hole round of 136. Sophomore Clay Devers of Kansas had the Jayhawks' lowest round and was the ninth-lowest finisher in the tournament with rounds of 72 and 76 for a 148 total. Junior Rudy Zupetz placed 11th in the tournament among individuals with rounds of 75 and 74 for a 149 total. Other Kansas scores were junior Jon Bruning with 77-74-151, senior Brian McGrevey with 79-77-156 and senior Clark Churchill with 89-75-164. Snell questionable for Saturday's game Kansas junior tailback Arnold Snell, who has a sprained right ankle, is listed as questionable for the Oklahoma State game. Snell leads the Jayhawks in rushing this season with 538 yards on 142 carries. He also has scored three touchdowns. If Snell is unable to play Saturday, junior Darrell Terry or freshman Frank Hatchett will start in his place. Terrell has missed most of the Jayhawks' last four games because of an ankle sprain. Hatchet is currently slowed by an ankle sprain. Both practiced yesterday. In the wake of Saturday's 17-17 tie with Kansas State, Kansas football coach Bob Valesente said he would favor a system to break tie games in college football. "It's like I said before, I only want to see a tie hanging in my closet," he said. Associated Press Top Twenty Poll 1. Oklahoma 2. Nebraska 3. Miami, Fla. 4. Florida State 5. UCLA 6. Syracuse 7.
